RIGID RATS

Our Velvet Rats aren’t cold – they’re SUPER COLD! Pressed into our special rat blocks, then vacuum sealed and frozen to -80°C. They leave us at 60°C below a standard freezer temperature. Vacuum packed for 5 times the shelf life of other suppliers

They travel direct to you in our special 6cm thick wall boxes sealed airtight to keep heat out. Our vacuum sealing removes air and helps pack the rodents more tightly eliminating air pockets that would otherwise accelerate defrosting. They stay in our freezer until 5pm when they are picked up by our carriers and in the vast majority of cases will arrive at your door the next morning (less than 24hrs after sending). They are guaranteed to arrive frozen and there is a good chance they will arrive colder than your freezer! – You may need to put them in the freezer to warm them up! Learn more about our processes at our rodent farm page.

So now that you can get door to door frozen shipping, 3 years plus shelf life, and we sell smaller as well as larger quantities, do you really have any reason left to get your rodents elsewhere?

Just keep frozen feeder mice in the freezer and thaw as required.

But here are some tips that may help. Our super cold freezing kills more diseases than conventional freezing. Vacuum packing reduces air and makes frozen feeders last longer –much longer. Government food storage guidelines for vacuum packed frozen meats are 5 to 6 times longer than regularly frozen meats (there are no guidelines for frozen mice – but we thought we would exceed them anyway). Learn more at our rodent farm page.

During packing and transport some vacuum packs may get a pin hole or tear. Use these frozen feeders first and place the others (still sealed) in the freezer for later use. The opened ones will still last 6-12 months (the same as your current supply) if they are kept in sealed plastic bags. Our sealed vacuum packs will give you years.

REMINDER
regarding order and shipping times

Please remember that frozen product orders need to be placed by Friday 2pm (AEST) at the latest so we have time to euthanize, pack and freeze them. Thank you.
