Please send me an email when this product is in stock
The Wood Cockroach is now widely distributed around the world and referred to by a number of names: Speckled Roach, Lobster Roach or Feeder Roach. They are a regularly used item often because they “thrive on neglect” as you may hear others say and they can be kept in a bucket, barely cared for then used as food when you need it. While we see the attraction you may also remember the saying “you are what you eat” – and we would add “how you are cared for” so while easy the end result may not be a high quality.
They are typically around 50% protein and 30% fat – if they are well cared for, so they would be of value when you are fattening up your pets for winter etc. If its growth you are after for youngsters, crickets are a better deal with about 15% more protein. You can learn much more about food choices in our nutrition guides.

Keep them in any smooth walled plastic container. They work best with at least a partly open or well ventilated lid. If you want to stop them climbing out, wipe a little canola oil around the top inside walls of the box (about a 2-3cm wide strip) and refresh this every few weeks or when they can climb it. .
Keep them in a warm area (20-30°C) and well ventilated so as not to create excessive humidity. They can be fed any vegetables and fruits as well as some dry foods like grains, chicken, dog or cat pellets.
PLEASE – DO NOT REFRIGERATE: Woodies are a tropical species and will be killed by cold temperatures.
