Rationale for the project
•Replicated reintroduction sites and control
sites at high and low altitudes.
•We were aware that altitude was related in some
way to the decline of stream frogs.
•Replicated enclosures at each site.
•No observations had been made of the life cycle
stage or of how the mysterious ‘declining frog phenomena’ actually manifested
itself.
•Our application postulated a disease as being involved based on the
geographic pattern observed in the decline of the gastric brooding frogs and
other rainforest stream frogs.
