The loss of Earth’s biodiversity is one of the tragedies
of our age - once a species becomes extinct, it is lost forever. The
significance of this decline is measured not only in terms of
the loss of species of potential benefit to man; the scientific evidence
shows that the reduction in biodiversity also has irreversible negative
