NUCLEAR TRANSFER IN AMPHIBIANS
The egg is enucleated physically or with ultraviolet light and is used as a donor egg (cytoplast). The cytoplast is then microinjected with a single donor nucleus (karyoplast) from an adult somatic or embryonic source.
Potentially – the donor cells could
be from one species and the egg from another,
allowing for the possibility of “resurrecting”
extinct species if the frozen material is available.
