ęSince July 02, over 500 cases rc’d from a wide
area of FNQ - these only tip of iceberg: many were last live ones
seen by finder; others in yard all dead; toads dead,
too
ępathogen is highly
contagious to ALL spp of frogs/toads; possibly affects snakes but
unable to confirm
ęour belief is
that it is a soil fungus; possibly Mucor(NOT amphibiorum), Fusarium,
Trichosporon, or Curvularia - testing
still in progress
ęWe believe any
area affected by severe, prolonged drought could have this problem!
