The frog groups of Victoria
There are 2 groups and/or programs listed as operating in Victoria.
Melbourne Water Frog Census

The Amphibian Research Centre, in partnership with Melbourne Water and Melbourne Waterwatch, operates a community-based frog monitoring program within greater Melbourne.
The aims of the frog-mapping program are to: increase community knowledge of frogs found in Melbourne, and to disseminate identification skills to on-ground participants; increase understanding of frog distribution throughout greater Melbourne; provide an additional Waterwatch activity that is both educational and enjoyable;
The Melbourne Water Frog Census program involves the recording of frog calls at sites adjacent to local waterways. Participants use their own tape recorder to record three to five minutes of frog activity (or no activity!) for each site, with the total number of sites being at the individuals discretion. Tapes are then returned for confirmation of identification. Results of the frog-mapping program are available on Melbourne Water's official website and a summary is sent to participants including your personal records.
Frog identification training days allow participants to have the opportunity to practice hands-on identification of frogs. Ultimately, participants should be able to personally identify frog recordings from future recording sessions.
Anyone in Melbourne can become involved - there is no membership fee.

Victorian Frog Group

The Victorian Frog Group aims to provide for the needs of all those interested in Australian native frogs, facilitating education and conservation through encouraging a close contact with nature. The membership is diverse, ranging through those with a general interest to gardeners, naturalists, teachers, pet owners, zookeepers, zoologists, research scientists, and university academics. The group offers a unique opportunity for you to meet people with similar interests, get to know more about frogs and get involved in the many exciting activities that are co-ordinated by the group.
Meetings are held sporadically (up to four times per year) and are advertised on the website and in the electronic newsletter (which is free to receive). Meetings include guest speakers on a wide range of topics relating to frogs, and also announcements relating to items of interest. These include reports on recent activities and discussion of future activities of the group.
The VFG no longer has membership fees for regular members. Simply join this group's newsletter to be informed of all activities being held in Victoria. Some events attract a small fee, many are completely free.
