Cane toads or native frogs

Postby Harding1 » Sun Dec 13, 2015 10:46 am

Hi
My son has been raising some tadpoles found near Mt Gravatt, Brisbane, however as they have grown they are looking suspiciously like cane toads. However they are able to climb a short way up our glass aquarium walls, so thought I had best ask some experts. Could anyone please help confirm what type these are.
Thanks

Hi,

Unfortunately the small frog in the picture is a young Cane Toad. They can be difficult to tell apart from some of the smaller natives at this stage so its good to check!

Thanks for letting us know Aaron. Its a bit sad though we were hoping to find some native frogs. Guess we wont be releasing these guys!.
