Tiny green frog, about size of 10¢ coin

Postby Rhonda » Fri Mar 28, 2014 1:28 pm

I found this tiny green frog near my frog pond recently. It was about the size of 10¢ coin. I only managed to get one photo before it woke up & hopped away.

This photo may not be adequate to allow for id, but I thought I'd present it anyway, as someone may be able to make a suggestion — would appreciate it, thanks. :)

Hi Rhonda,

That is a young Green Tree Frog (Litoria caerulea). They have a dark stripe along the side of the head which fades as they get bigger.

Hi Aaron,

The shape of its head & the black stripe threw me, as the adults do look different, so thanks for clarifying that. :D
