Your Spotted Marsh Frogs will probably be mature already, as long as they have been well fed. There are records of them breeding at 3 months! Southern Browns will probably take at least a year, maybe more.

Growth

Postby Joy » Fri Sep 07, 2007 3:58 pm

The Spotted Marsh Frogs are about the size of a 10 cent piece or a tad bigger and they are suposed to grow to 35-40mm so they are not that yet........the Southern brown tree frogs are about the same but have very long back legs....they are also supposed to be the same size as the others when full grown......................maybe my question was not on the right track?????

Do they take maybe a year to grow to full size???

Yeah, that is a bit smaller than I thought. They probably need some size to them before they breed, especially the females as they have lots of eggs.

Ohhhhh, I thought you meant sexual maturity, sorry.

Um, I'm not too sure. Frogs grow throughout their life, but they should slow down between 1-2 years. It depends a lot on diet.

Does it really matter how long it takes them? It takes as long as it takes, I'm sorry but you will just have to wait, some frogs grow faster than others. You should change to a larger sized cricket when you think the frog is large enough, frogs >30mm could probably take mediums. Just stick to the gutload and calcium with carrots and that food is fine for the crickets.
