what is this whitish frog

this frog is whitish 4-6 cm in length, different from the others in the garden.
Can you tell what type?

Based on the size you gave, I would say the Southern Brown Tree Frog (Litoria ewingi), but I first thought of the Whistling Tree Frog (Litoria verreauxii), when I saw the shape. They are generally broader.

Hey Catherine,

That frog looks like the Southern Brown Tree Frog (Litoria ewingii). Another species is Litoria paraewingi which looks similar but has a different distribution which you can find on the frogs.org key to Victorian frogs.

Your photography is really good, makes it easier to identify the frogs!

Great minds think alike Evan L. ewingi is similar to L. verreauxi verreauxi but in L. v. verreauxi the discs/pads are very slender and small whilst in L. ewingii they tend to be broader than the fingers.

another question do different types of frogs.. say this one, Sthn Brown Tree Frog and the Spotted Marsh Frogs like separate ponds or do they all go in together?

They'll all go in together. Some frog species like different types of ponds, and some like streams. But in suburbia, the majority of frogs like common garden ponds, and they don't mind sharing them at all.

Yeah they are fine in the same water body, and yes it is Litoria ewingii.
