Tadpole /froglet ID Please

Postby Calayvie » Mon Mar 13, 2017 11:16 am

Hi everyone!!
I'm glad I found this forum. This is my first post and I'd like to get an ID on these tadpoles. They are from the Young area 2594 NSW.

The first one to grow 4 legs did so in 5 months.
The smallest ones don't look nearly ready to pop back legs yet, so may not be till next summer now?

The biggest tadpoles are about 6.5cm long. They are like little whales!

Hi,

Always tricky to ID tadpoles from photos. They are certainly a ground frog of some sort. I might stick my neck out and suggest they could be Giant Banjo Frogs (Limnodynastes interioris) - those dark black markings on the tail are something I associate with this species.
