Tadpole Identification Please

Postby Sharky » Fri Aug 21, 2015 6:05 pm

Hi all! I recently removed a long stagnant pool of water from my backyard, and in the process found over 100 of these little guys. They are various sizes, but appear to all be at the same stage of development. Can someone please identify them for me? I'm in western Sydney :)

Hi Sharky,

I think your tadpoles are either Striped Marsh Frogs (Limnodynastes peroni) or Spotted Marsh Frogs (Limnodynastes tasmaniensis). Both are fairly common frogs but the Striped Marsh Frog is the most common backyard frog in the Sydney region.
