Curious... do frogs eat locusts?

I'm curious, reading about possible locust plague, wondered if frogs eat locusts? Or are they too big, too fast?

cheers

Hi,

You'll find frogs will usually eat anything that:

1. is made of animal matter
2. moves
3. is not poisonous to them.
4. fits in their mouth.

Locusts fit those categories for larger frogs.

Thanks Nathan, I guess in my area it would be the Banjo Frogs who would benefit from locusts.

I have also wondered whether frogs eat slugs but am thinking that they move too slow!

cheers

Slugs...it's a possibility I guess. The larger skinks, like Blue and Pink tongues will happily mop up any slugs that happen to be about, though.

Frogs and slugs

Postby Gulper » Wed Dec 10, 2008 11:27 pm

I found a Limnodynastes tasmaniensis trying to eat a slug in my back yard once. It didn't seem to be doing it very enthusiastically though. I have a photo somewhere..

Yeah I found an aurea eating a slug once, it kinda spat it back out, or the slug slipped out..
