Is the Corroborree Frog poisonous?

Do you have a question about anatomy, life cycle, taxonomy, or anything else that isn't covered by the other frogs.org.au projects? Ask them here (or provide an answer to other people's questions).

Is the Corroborree Frog poisonous?

Postby Ambrose Miller » Mon Apr 14, 2008 10:00 am

My 8 yr old son would like to know if the Corroborree Frog is actually poisonous or not, we have read varying information.
Also, does anyone have information on the facility where they are breeding the frogs in captivity? ie. location, can you visit there? I would love to take my son there, and make a donation too (albeit a small one).

Thankyou all!

Nicole

Hi Nicole, here is some links to information for you. When the ARC (Werribee, Victoria) has a open day you can book a tour of the breeding program (well you could last time), if you have signed up for the newsletter or keep an eye on the forum you will find out when the dates are announced for the next one. Not sure if you can tour the other breeding facilities (Taronga Zoo, Melbourne Zoo etc)

If you were ever in Sydeny you can see them at Taronga zoo. And yes they are poisonous.

Cheers,
Grant
