Motorbike frog calls

Postby janee » Sat Nov 23, 2013 11:59 pm

We have a frog pond we built ourselves and a motorbike frog has been calling increasingly loudly for 3 weeks. A few days ago it went silent for nearly 48 hours then started calling quietly, and since then there are two (we think) frogs calling to each other. I suspect one doesn't rev it's engine but just "talks". What sounds do the female make? Is this a male and a female calling to each other? Will they keep doing this or will they stop once they have mated? Or is it two males...?
I'd love to know more what we are listening to - it's entertaining us day and night and I absolutely love it!!!
