Which frog is this?

Postby Carmel » Mon Jan 30, 2017 12:11 pm

I returned home yesterday and found a frog in my bird water bucket. It was quite large, about 5cm and reminded me of a cane toad. I live in Armidale (New England NSW) and didn't think cane toads had reached here yet, and a few searches today have put my mind at ease, however I still couldn't match it up to one of the frogs on https://frogs.org.au/frogs/ofNSW/New_England_and_Surrounds. A feature that isn't completely clear in the photo is the tibial glands, and I didn't get a view of its underside.

Can someone identify the frog from the photo?

Thanks =)

Nice find and a great shot too Carmel. It is an Eastern Banjo Frog (Limnodynastes dumerilli dumerilli). The tibial glands are those large lumps on the lower leg that are sticking out of the water in your photo.
