The ARCade uses the frogs.org.au secure certificate, which means that you can safely transmit payment details without any danger of them falling into the wrong hands. On the payment pages ("checkout"), you will notice the GoDaddy.com logo assuring you that the transfer of your information is secure. For additional peace of mind, take note that your browser displays a small padlock and the address of the page begins with "https://".
When an order is completed your credit card number is erased from the database. For this reason, you will need to re-enter your credit card details each time an order is made.
Postage and handling is automatically calculated when you checkout.
However, the information here will allow you to predict your mailing costs.
Many items (such as memberships and donations) do not attract a postage and handling fee simply because we are not sending a product to you. Special items (such as calendars in exchange for donations) may also be sent without a postage and handling fee.
Cricket orders are calculated separately to other products as your crickets will never be posted with other merchandise. For regular post, each delivery of crickets is $5.50 AUD to anywhere in Australia. For express post, it is $9.00 AUD. We recommended express post delivery for orders outside of Victoria. An 'order' of crickets is a single delivery. A single delivery may be made up of several sizes of crickets and any quantity - it is simply the number of times we have to pack a delivery for you.
Other merchandise is based on a per-item model. You are charged $5.00AUD for the first item and $2.00AUD for every item after that. (Any number of posters are treated as a single item). Express Post is not offered for merchandise other than crickets - all items are sent by regular post.
In most cases mailing takes place only once per week, usually Tuesday.
This is especially true for insect orders. Because the ARC studies disease, it is important that staff minimise the number of areas that they work in each day. Thus, we limit the number of times we enter the cricket enclosure for deliveries, ensuring the health of the crickets and the frogs that they are fed to.
The ARCade prefers payment by credit card (Visa and Mastercard).
Alternatively, you may opt to pay by cheque or money order. Your order will not be posted until we have received your payment. When paying by cheque or money order, please include your order number (shown on your confirmation email) with your payment in order to speed up the processing.
